User support

The PMD system offers comprehensive Reference manual and User manual that provide an overview of the solution procedures and the possible description of geometrical, topological and physical properties of the model. The manuals also provide information about the structure of the input files of all PMD file programs.

The Example Manual presents in detail — through various computational models (beam, axisymmetrical element, shell, 2D and 3D solid, connection/transition elements) of simple bodies (cuboid, annulus, tube) — the physical assignment of the problem under consideration (elastostatics, heat conduction, dynamics, plasticity, creep, geometrically nonlinear and contact problems) along with the appropriate input and output files. The Example Manual is thus an excellent tool for verifying newly installed programs and helping even more advanced users.

Training

VAMET offers training according to the individual needs of the users of the PMD system and the GFEM program. We place emphasis on the fastest possible use of acquired knowledge in practice. We offer training both in our branches, at the customer's place or online. We will provide you with more information here.

System requirements

The PMD system can be run on a wide range of computers ranging from ordinary desktop PCs to powerful workstations and computing servers. Currently, mostly PCs with Windows operating systems are used, but it is possible to deliver a version of PMD for virtually any operating system. The amount of memory and disk space required for the calculation always depends on the size of the particular problem.

Recommended configuration for the graphical interface (GFEM):

  • Dual-core processor
  • Memory 2 GB
  • Free disk space for work files 1 GB
  • 32-bit operating system Windows

Recommended configuration for calculations:

  • Octa-core Intel processor
  • Memory 8 to 128 GB (depending on the problem size)
  • Free disk space for work files 16 to 256 GB (depending on the problem size)
  • 64-bit operating system Windows or GNU/Linux
